The Venezuelan ambassador to Brazil, María Teresa Belandria, thanked the President of Colombia, Iván Duque, for his support for Venezuelan migrants.
The diplomat described as a ‘gesture of brotherhood’, the actions carried out by the Administration of President Duque for the protection and inclusion of Venezuelan migrants and refugees.
“These gestures of brotherhood are demonstrated with facts and today, thanks to your generosity with Venezuelans, it is written in the history of our shared memories,” she concluded.
This Monday the president of Colombia, Iván Duque, signed at the Nariño Palace the decree creating a Temporary Protection Statute (EPT) for Venezuelan migrants.
The decree will be valid for 10 years and was promulgated with the aim of seeking to legally welcome the Venezuelan diaspora that has arrived in that nation fleeing the crisis generated by Nicolás Maduro’s dictatorship.
