Ambassador James Story denied the alleged refusal of the United States to donate vaccines against Covid-19 to Venezuela.
The United States Ambassador to Venezuela reiterated the will of the government of President Joe Biden to respond to the humanitarian crisis afflicting the country and recalled the donation of more than 1,200 million dollars that that country has made to the democratic cause.
“Our approach is to help the people of Venezuela but there needs to be a transparent system to vaccinate,” he said through his Twitter account.
Amb. Story assured that the United States assesses the country’s situation for future donations, fully supporting a solid vaccination effort that can reach all Venezuelans.
The Venezuelan Ambassador to the United States, Carlos Vecchio, endorsed the words of his counterpart and affirmed that the international donation of vaccines against Covid-19 has become one of the most important initiatives of the United States.
Furthermore, he reiterated the need for an effective vaccination plan through the COVAX mechanism for all Venezuelans.
“It is important for Venezuelans to have vaccines to live. The interim government will continue to promote this,” he said.
