U.S. Democratic Senator Dick Durbin called on the Nicolas Maduro dictatorship to release the members of President Juan Guaidó’s task force, as well as the rest of the political prisoners he is holding in Venezuela.
“Instead of helping the Venezuelan people during this pandemic, Nicolás Maduro and his Cuban aides are arresting and torturing those who oppose his tyranny, including members of Acting President Juan Guaidó’s team: Demóstenes Quijada, Maury Carrero, Rómulo García and Víctor Silio,” Durbin said.
The U.S. senator revealed that “according to reports, Quijada was tortured to try to get him to say the location of other members of the Guaidó team.”
“They must be released immediately and unconditionally along with all the political prisoners caught up in Maduro’s nightmare,” he concluded.
