The deputy and president of the Permanent Defense Committee of the National Assembly (NA), Eliezer Sirit, rejected this Monday the threatening declarations of the person who usurps the position of Minister of Defense, M/G Vladimir Padrino López, qualifying them as a serious violation of the National Constitution.
“Mr. Padrino Lopez in his speech on the anniversary of the National Armed Forces made evident a totalitarian and anti-democratic position. By pointing out that the political forces of Venezuelan democracy will not have access to power, he dragged the military body into a position that not everyone shares,” warned the parliamentarian for Falcón State.
Pointing out that it is serious to continue rejecting the vote as an instrument of change in Venezuela, Sirit maintained that this issue is not binding for the occupant of the military portfolio. “This speech, which is very offensive, does not correspond to who is obliged to comply and enforce the Constitution,” he said.
On this matter, the spokesman for the National Parliament warned that it is a clear message for “those who, by all means, want to participate in this “construct elections” that the new board of directors of the National Electoral Council (CNE) imposed by Nicolás Maduro has called for.
“These poor expressions seem to be nothing more than a gesture to ingratiate themselves so that the usurpation does not relieve them of the position they occupy unconstitutionally,” the political leader said. On this subject, he recalled that the officer has broken with an internal tradition of transferring command by staying longer than he should at the post.
