The Deputy of the National Assembly, Carlos Bastardo, spoke about the crisis and lack of maintenance of the electricity system in Monagas State.
“It is grotesque that there is so much deficiency in the electricity system of Venezuela when the regime of Hugo Chávez and Nicolás Maduro allocated to it billions of dollars, which were squandered and lost in corruption with overpricing in the purchase of equipment that was never installed” said Mr. Bastardo in statements released through the social networks of the National Parliament.
Furthermore, he pointed out that the crisis in Venezuela did not begin due to lack of resources, but rather caused by the corruption that characterizes the regime. This today is reflected in Monagas State with the lack of maintenance on power lines and electricity poles.
In addition, when citizens go to Corpoelec, the response they get from the workers, who receive miserable salaries, is that they do not have equipment to be able to move, and service units are completely destroyed. This prevents that even with the technical personnel that they still have left, they cannot reach the communities to solve problems.
The parliamentarian highlighted, in particular, the serious flaws in the public lighting that are registered in Maturín, capital of Monagas State.
