The President (E) of the Republic, Juan Guaidó, congratulated Alexander De Croo on his appointment as Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Belgium.
Through a letter issued by the Venezuelan President, Guaidó requested the new Minister to maintain support for the democratic movement of the Legitimate Government. He also asked to continue exerting pressure against Nicolas Maduro’s regime.
“We hope that your nation will continue to put pressure on Nicolas Maduro’s dictatorship and support our efforts and proposal to form a National Emergency Government,” reads the letter.
The following is the complete communiqué:
Mr. Alexander De Croo
Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Belgium
Your Excellency, receive our warmest greetings. On behalf of the Venezuelan people I write to you on the occasion of congratulating you and the Belgian people on your recent appointment as Prime Minister to lead the destiny of your nation.
As it is known, in Venezuela we are carrying out a long struggle against the criminal regime of Nicolás Maduro who, violating our constitution, usurps the Presidency of the Republic. Therefore, considering Belgium a key nation that contributes to the definitive solution of the complex humanitarian crisis we are going through, we hope that your nation will continue to put pressure on Nicolas Maduro’s dictatorship and to support, as the International Community has done, our efforts and proposal to form a National Emergency Government with all the political sectors of Venezuela, asking at the same time, very respectfully, to promote and encourage this effort before the free world, as the only mechanism that would allow us to prioritize humanitarian and social problems, and then to hold free, fair and transparent presidential elections.
I take this opportunity to reiterate my gratitude for the support that the Kingdom of Belgium has given to our struggle to rescue our constitutional order, while asking you very respectfully to give the greatest support to our diaspora living in your country. Those who have been forced to flee from Maduro’s dictatorship in search of a better quality of life and a better future.
I bid you farewell, not without expressing my highest esteem and consideration, and I wish you every success in your work for the benefit of Belgian citizens.
President of the National Assembly
President (E) of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela
